If you need to “crunch the numbers”, you probably shouldn’t be upgrading phones every year. If you can casually drop a $1k, then this may be the program for you, but if you can drop that kind of cash, saving couple bucks probably isn’t your highest priority.

Sorry, what I meant was, the only time I had a dead clog was when the drain was full of grease. All other times, the water drained slowly on its own, so I could chase the clog with drano, never into standing water.

Doesn’t the hacker need to be in close proximity for the hack to work? If you need this trick, it means the hacker is INSIDE your home. I think getting your key fob hacked is the least of your concerns.
