the point i'm making is that it isn't just white girls who fetishize black guys, as evidenced by this scene, which was cast *very* deliberately, by a black woman who is making a show about navigating race-relations in 2017. you can't just call a PoC white because it fits this convenient narrative structure you have in

yeah, okay, so…either their race is important to your critique or it isn't. you can't say it is and then *call one of them the wrong race* - duhhh.

lol it's interesting how someone who's written so many paragraphs about this could be so wrong.

uh, okay? except reducing a woman of color to "just a stupid white girl" is lazy, inaccurate, and offensive. but whatever, i guess you're "fine" with it so it's all good.

only one of them was white. (see my comment below.) but yeah. noooo bueno.

um, one of those women Lawrence hooked up with was clearly Asian. (and her character was named "Miko" in the credits.)

why are you guys covering this hour-long tampon commercial and showing no love at all for Claws or Queen Sugar? booooooooooooooo AVC, booooooooooooooo i say! >:\

WHOSE DICK WE GOTTA SUCK FOR CLAWS RECAPS, AVC?(?!)

still time to get on the Queen Sugar train, AV Club….

she's had bit roles on lots of shows that i've watched (30 Rock, Southland, Grey's Anatomy, Breaking Bad, etc.) but the role i *actually* remember her from is when she played Barb (aka: dead Lisa's sister) on Six Feet Under.

it's been a REALLY long time since i watched a show that gave me several "YAAAAAS GIRL!" and "what the fuuuuuuuck?" moments per episode.

Playing House, Casual, and Younger all got the proverbial shaft. smh. :/

i feel like Playing House, Casual, and Younger are all worthy of summertime consideration; but i guess if it doesn't appeal to young, straight, white guys then the AVC just isn't interested.

"It seems to me like what you actually want is a page to post comments about these shows you're watching…"

uh, recaps and analysis of new TV shows are the #1 reason i visit AV Club and i suspect i'm not alone. if you wanna discuss the intricacies of a 15 year-old sci-fi show i'm sure there are *hundreds* of message boards and 4chan threads in which you could do so.

you probably haven't heard of them because they both feature strong, black, female lead characters and also feature black and female writers and directors, a fact which seemingly renders them ineligible for AV Club attention. (it's super easy to do a search up top, they've both been mentioned several times in WOT and

check the comments any time Queen Sugar or Claws are mentioned in WOT. there are literally people all over AVC requesting this. just because you haven't seen something (prob bc you're poring over recaps from a 15 year-old sci-fi show) doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

um, and what data is this assumption based on, exactly? every time Claws or Queen Sugar gets mention in WOT there are people clamoring for recaps. also, there are currently 8 shows (EIGHT!) in the recap section that are being released weekly, so i feel like both of your arguments are rendered kinda moot.

yeahhhh, all i'm getting is, "it's my last week here and i wanna write about this obscure show i really liked from 15 years ago instead of current shows that people actually care about this summer." :\

soooooo, let me get this straight:
