Were they any better because of the Cosworth engine? I had forgotten about these. We had a standard Vega that was basically a piece of crap that died with a half inch of gas sitting in the intake manifold. Still get the occasional bad dream about this most unfortunate stage of my automotive life.

Water pump, hoses, radiator... and while you have everything out, spend the extra $50 on a timing chain. I did mine at 230K, and it was a HUGE improvement.

Make sure you have a 190 degree thermostat too. The engine likes to run just warm enough, but not too warm.

Or its heads, or overheating... lol. i’ve had to do one swap because of a failed water pump that ate a main bearing and trashed a head shortly after.
