While I have no stake in the issue and no connection to Jeeps, I have to say, why the hate on dentists? I think dentists are awesome, and some of the nicest medical professionals I have dealt with. Let them have some fun!

This is a very underappreciated comment. I hope it doesn’t get diluted.

I used the full-sized spare on my Peugeot a few months ago. I don’t know how old it was, but it said : “Made in West Germany” on the side. I’ll be replacing that tire...

Yeah, I had two reactions :

Yeah, that is was my friends’ take too from a while ago- that he sounds like an idiot and generally is disliked for being a caricature of himself. They could not believe that he got elected Gov of California...though in general they take a dim view of our American tendency to elect unqualified media celebrities to

Just want to say that I have a lot of lust for that manual transmission Mercedes 190E in the lead photo. I have the exact same interior (in same color) on my 190D, though slightly less tidy, and with the automatic. Opening up Jalopnik front page today felt like heading out on a drive!

I’ll add at least two to the “yes” category. But it wasn’t my senior prom, I was dating a senior during the end of my sophomore year. It was the first for both of us.

Bummer, though don’t worry - from the name of the tow company, it will rise again!

Also, no “real” germaphobe talks about going up to random women and kissing or groping them. The only supporting evidence for him being a germaphobe is that he has terrible taste in food and has it all overcooked.

I think the level of detail and denial is because Melania knows it is true...and has information about his interactions with prostitutes. I mean, she likely known a thing or two about the industry.

Oh, the conspiracy goes deeper that that. During the Weimar Republic they changed all the names of German inventors to make it more likely that their brands would dominate. Notice how short the names of famous German auto and industrial figures are?

This is my feeling exactly - there is a lot of joy in getting something of excellent quality for a great deal, and appreciating something that once was expensive and is still totally useful. I just bought an Inca table saw for an incredible deal. It is over 30 years old and runs smooth as butter.

I also just don’t get it, and some of these people will surely be rolling negative equity into their next loan. I have a bit of the opposite affliction, which is : Keeping and fixing the same old things that brought me joy in the first place. Which is why I still drive the VW truck I built up right after college,

David, do please share what museum this is at in Nuremberg! I will be in the area in June, and want to continue checking off automotive museums of Europe.

I like your perspective about diversification of your fleet, yet sticking solidly to 2-seater cars. One of these would be a great addition.

Seriously, this is a great deal. A perfect opportunity to have a show car/driver as well as a X1/9 race car for autocross use, and a bunch of parts.

I really like the construction of the argument: Anything is a _______ if you are determined enough.

There is also a hidden danger in liking wrenching TOO much, in that it is easy to think that you need projects that challenge you. And then you wind up with a bunch of project cars that sit for waaaay too long. That is my current issue...overconfidence and choosing obscure cars with hard-to-find parts.

Man, you must have had a rough trip to Germany! Or you missed out on a lot of fun. ;)

I mean, intellectually I completely agree, but on some cars there does seem to be a degree of magic and uncertainty. For instance, I once had a VW Rabbit with an intermittent starter issue. It would function perfectly for a while, but then fail when I was trying to go to my ex-girlfriend’s house. I swear it knew
