Rumor has it Perez at Red Bull is a one year deal and Albon is being retained as a reserve driver.

That’s a pretty fascinating story! You definitely went deep into detail to get the whole thing.

You dug up a fair bit extra history on the beastie! Good stuff. 👍

Had the same response when I was behind a Ranger in traffic the other day. I thought it was an F150 at first. Then I saw the RANGER on the tailgate and just exclaimed to myself “WHY IS THE RANGER SO FUCKING BIG!?”

They’re barely slower at all if you remove DRS from the equation and put slicks on the old V10.

It took a rules change a few years ago to make the cars wider, with much wider rubber and huge wings to make the heavy V6 hybrids barely squeak by some of the V10 track records.

Yep, the little 1.8L, not the Ford 1.9.

They almost all disappeared from our shores for a number of years. Our first generation Mazda 6 had it as an option (could either have a normal trunk, or lift glass), but ever since then they stopped. That might have been our last semi-common car to have it.

Nostalgia bug would have to hit one super hard to want to pay that kind of money for one of these.

Really? Because I recall Perez on the whole outpacing Ocon... kind of why Perez finished 8th in points and Ocon 12th...

Seb is driving a shitbox, yes, but Leclerc is able to get a large amount more pace out of the car than Seb and doesn’t make near as many mistakes. There have been a number of boneheaded moves, especially under pressure, by the German the last few years to boot.

From being punted by a Ferrari on lap 1, dropping to last place and coming back to win it in NOT a Mercedes AMG.... That’s hugely impressive.

F1 is always changing. Sure, one could argue that power train wise it hasn’t undergone enormous changes in the last couple seasons, but that doesn’t mean developments are not still happening.

Yeah... Gets a little conflicting. On the one hand, you want to encourage previously snubbed minorities to join and be more accepted in the sport, but then the other questions whether an all one race team or series is the best way to do that.

I just realized something kinda funny looking at the photos again.

Eh, it’s a mk4 chassis with a diesel. They’re pretty stout and not super complicated to work on.

Yeah, must not be a boost leak, or at least not a major one.

Is this one also a p0299 underboost code?

I’ve owned more VWs with over 300,000 miles in the clock than I’ve owned ones with less than 150,000 🤷‍♂️

Agree. Or the armco needs to have an additional energy dissipation barrier in front of it like a Safer Barrier or even a tire barrier, though tire barriers have been called into question before for other less than great side effects, when done right it can at least deflect the car enough, dissipate enough energy to
