Given that these companies' revenues are in the tens if not hundreds of billions, $400M is pocket change.

Back at ye, pal. You didn't cite actual statistics or figures to prove your point. The assumption of your nationality was yours, not mine.

More likely to be "getifu yabassa!"

Every 6th person working for H&S? Cite source, please. The government "picks up the tab" for their healthcare too, and I'm sure you'll object to that . . . . . .

And FUBARing macs forever

The only thing worse is some id10t who thinks that a TT bike can't be ridden on a group ride. I don't, but ride with many who do. No accidents yet in over 10 years.

Not so sure about not being dangerous - you have to mount the thing on the top of your helmet which could compromise the structure in an accident. And you'll look like a dork.

Not an invasion of privacy - but how the h311 does the school think it has the right to expel the kid for it?

Interesting report. I live in the town that hosts the fastest 5k road race in the world, and it's on this coming weekend. Volunteering in the past, I noted that the faster runners used shoes more like track shoes (barefoot, you could say) than "running" shoes like the Mayfly. I guess I'll take a closer look this year

A great movie - and the areas it was filmed in are (or were when it was made) the actual parts of Edinburgh where drug use was rife. I lived there when it was being filmed, and knew the girl the Begbie glassed in the bar scene. Good times!

Shades of Microsoft's attempt to make their version of an Open Document Standard become the industry standard over one developed by a large group of software companies . . . .

Late to the conversation, but here's my 2 cents . . . . . don't used time initiated screensavers. Define and enforce a policy that requires all unattended workstations to be "locked". Teach the users the easy way (Win-L) and they'll be happy to do it. And as others have mentioned, punish those who don't comply with

"Socialism failed with Greece, Spain, England, France, and on and on"

"subsidized in part by taxpayers at large due to the deductibility of the donations to the project."

The local right wing idiot in San Diego used to use Muse's Uprising as backing on come backs from commercials. Obviously had no clue what the song was about . . .

Dumonde Tech Bike Chain Lube works great in all conditions - road or mtb. I've used wax based lubes in the past, but Dumonde Tech is consistently better. It's also good for nipples . . . . ;-)

All my retired PCs, laptops, monitors etc go to my local Pet Shelter non-profit. I always reformat & reinstall XP before I let them go. Good write-off, and better sleep at night.

That's what I was thinking - there's only two ways you can fit a sheet, and you'd think you would want to rotate it or just let randomness determine the orientation.

Hmm. That's what I do with my silverware between appetizer & entree, so no parts of the silverware touch a surface before re-use. I rarely leave anything on my plate, so it's easy to see when I'm done :-)
