Actually I found that part of the book kind of funny, because it's a very Indian perspective on religion: the idea that these distinct, heterogeneous concepts can be blended together into a vague amalgam. I thought it was a cute nod to India's melting pot culture.

Do you have any particular recommendations for Krzhizhanovsky? I have the opportunity to borrow a collection called Memories of the future.

He probably has some 'radical tumblr' definition of what a feminist is, and then will cite No True Scotsman if you talk about Malala Yousafzai. Just trying to get ahead of the trainwreck.

I feel like the people who make these accusations forget that GRRM's source material is based pretty directly on medieval life. Yes, GoT can get pretty rapey and gross, but guess what— much of human history was unfortunately even more rapey. GoT is fiction, but based on the very real history of brutal female

I think most of the people who hate Desi get what kind of character he's supposed to be. They've never really shown a sympathetic side of him on the show. The point is that his character is fun to hate.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that his father dying wasn't a lie, but his whole "parting ways with his app company" was. Maybe the break-up and his father dying probably set his whole drug habit in motion and he was kicked out of his company, went on a downward spiral, etc.

Oh man. I didn't know I needed a meaty, beardy Christopher Abbott til now.

"It's all a circle." == "See, I planned for my fuck-up to conveniently correct itself all along, Rick. Viva la karma!"

Like democracy, it's the worst thing ever except for all the alternatives.

My impression was that we just saw the tail end (lol) of the bathtub scene, and they'd been at it a while. After all, Ragnar clearly likes to take his own sweet time.

I don't know, it seems to fit really well for me. Abbi's dad reminded me a bit of Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite— a very image- and health- conscious older single guy. "Hope you like Stevia!"

Someone probably already mentioned it, but I love that we get the tiny backstory of where Abbi gets her sick BB&B handshake moves from.

One of the earlier Girls episodes took place in an abortion clinic and involved a miscarriage, and it's one of the funniest/most memorable eps of that show for me. It's not a very "chill stoner" funny topic though.

I think this remake of HoC should really have been four seasons like the original. This new S4 is much more in line with the "beginning of the end" atmosphere than the relative slog that was S3.

I think the problem people have is how obvious it is that the core group has "plot armor". Denise was a great addition and could become one of the core group members, and by the same token one of the core members could be killed off in some sort of shocking way. This would reflect well the idea that in a

I don't think Jessa is playing Adam- I actually feel that, at the moment, she has genuine feelings for him.

Well, we all have bad days, and we all follow social cues. But I know plenty of nice people who are genuinely nice and caring. My parents are nice. My friends are nice.

I think S1 Jessa and Adam, carnal hedonists, would consider bad sex to be terminal. But I feel like these crazy kids are gonna make it. They've both grown up a lot. An Adam-Jessa baby would be hilarious, I want to see them 'co-parent'.

Unpopular opinion, but this is actually the first time I'm finding Elijah bearable. Maybe it's cuz I'm gay, but up to now he's been basically the latest iteration of a "Will and Grace" gay character and it kind of fell flat for me. But shy, tentative Elijah is adorable. I'm glad they're showing off his acting chops.

Actually I think this was an informative episode, as far as showing how the women in three different places deal with wresting some power from the men in charge (well, apart from Ragnar + Yidu, I agree with you there— we'll see how that ends up).
