BSG's main problem is the same as many modern serialized shows (though BSG has it BAD), in that every episode has to have some cliffhanger or crazy reveal,even when it makes no sense and that dulls the effect.

Season 2 is a perfectly serviceable first season, and S3 and 4 were great (except for the finale). Season 1 with almost no exception was boring boring boring drudgery, and offensively gross with the decon-gel bullshit.
