What of those policies has passed? In any event, it doesn’t strike me as particularly socialist/leftist/egalitarian to start running around telling people they don’t do “real” work and so they deserve less than other people who do supposedly more valuable work.

His new mansion cost before any fees and taxes 75 times the median wage in the US (https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/MEPAINUSA672N), almost 4 times the median house price in LA (https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2021-06-22/southern-california-may-home-prices-hit-record-is-a-slowdown-coming)

Also, Bernie fucking shows up to a real job and votes on bills and advocates for policy. He’s got a resume and receipts. He’s allowed to indulge a little bit, IMO, because he’s still advocating for a specific social democracy vision. Plus he doesn’t put on stupid vintage campaign hats and make dumb whiteboi faces on

But mostly it’s an old and boring routine that makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

He wasn’t very good, or even very competent. He was stiff and wooden. I wasn’t terribly interested in criticizing him when he hosted because he was apparently last-minute fill in. But aside from Dr. Oz, who was horrible, he was the only guest host that I really didn’t like at all.

Were you ever under the impression this product contains alcohol?  Do you think anyone who is fluent in English thinks this product contains alcohol if they read the label or any marketing materials about this product?

Read the label genius. It clearly says it’s non-alcoholic. That’s my point.  It is clear this “spirit” does not have alcohol, even though people associate “spirit” with alcohol.

I disagree, but ok. That’s your personal definition.

In my mind, the thing that tends to distinguish almost all non-alcoholic beverages from many or most alcoholic beverages (especially “sophisticated” beverages) is the former tends to be aimed at simple refreshment...it’s something meant to be served cold, to quench your thirst, to go down easy, and so tends towards

At the time this happened, his mom had power over him, and should have been a base of support and encouragement.  He was 12!  I don’t think “worrying about” him is enough to justify poking the air out of their child’s ambitions.

What did the kid do?

Kind of, but belittling your child’s aspirations also is, so *shrug*

thanks for the contribution

I agree that there wasn’t a ton of visibility of trans issues in pop culture in 2005 when Mr. Garrison’s Fancy New Vagina aired, although they were by no means the first to explore issues of sexual and gender identity (Ru Paul had been famous for a long time by the time that episode aired, Drew’s brother on the Drew

Okay, the confirmation was how many people showed proof of vaccination, not how many people were actually vaccinated. Almost certainly less than 90% of the crowd was actually vaccinated.

ManBearPig is a very funny episode, but the message is so insanely dumb and cynical, for no fucking reason at all. It did nothing but reflect back the conservative retort that Al Gore was Chicken Little. And, I mean, look around.

What issues are these that no other show would touch?  Also, this doesn’t excuse the show’s shitty politics.

You’re sure making a lot of assumptions here….

Each person gets to decide for themselves. But do you honestly think making fun of trans people, for example, is punching up?

I don’t like it when they use slurs (which they do regularly, all sorts), when they have shitty and flat out wrong politics (see ManBearPig). You’re probably telling on yourself here more than anyone else.
