Giving homeless people food like this is stupid anyway, for legality/health reasons and also because it involves zero thought into how a homeless person’s day usually goes.

I had to at work when somebody accidentally tossed a bunch of old pharmacy records in the dumpster instead of setting aside for shredding, they happened to mention it several days later. Alabama and summer of course, thankfully not a lot of food stuffs, but what was in there was plenty ripe. Seriously don’t know why…

I generally agree, but I just think they’re not doing anything to prevent illness in the homeless otherwise so I give a big side-eye with these laws.

There are actually lots of laws around the country prohibiting giving food to the homeless without a permit. I am probably in the minority here in that I do think the reasoning is sound - except that starvation and malnutrition will kill them too, just more slowly. So it’s hard to take it seriously as a real concern…
