Yup. 1974 was when the Equal Credit Opportunity Act was passed and most women still didn’t have widespread access until ‘78 or ‘79. I still can remember the day my mother got one. I was 8 and it was 1979. She cried.

Yup! When I bring it up to the younger generation, they can’t believe it. It really wasn’t that long ago.

Equal and opposite reaction time folks:

This is also the End Times. I mean, this is a catalogue clothing company and they can’t donate money to the UN Women’s Fund for Women’s Equality because it causes moral outrage. In 2016.

I repeat: RAGE.

“Does it seem outrageous? Or is it outrageous?”

“Someone did, my love.” That phrasing makes me love her fifty times more, for some reason. FIFTY THOUSAND BUCKS, YOU ASSHOLES.

People acting like they’re entitled to a presumption of innocence in public opinion drives me nuts. Same as when bigoted idiots say something bigoted and idiotic and then start screeching about free speech when they get fired or kicked off their tv show or criticized by the public in general.

“And Planned Parenthood told the Dispatch that the funding they’re losing had been used, not for abortions—because that is illegal and has been since the ‘70s—but for education and testing, including sex ed classes, a program called Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies, and HIV tests.”

He’s fucking terrible. Indiana (right fucking next door, Kasich!) did this kind of shit, and now they’re trying to deal with an outbreak of STDs.

He doesn’t care. These people are fueled by blind spite, not logic or fairmindedness.

Okay THAT is VC Andrews territory.

He told me his mom was so mentally ill that she hung herself. I guess he didn’t bank on me meeting his family because when I did, not only did I learn that she was very much alive but she was living in a nice town in Indiana.

I call 100% bullshit on all of this. I dated a guy who enjoyed making up outlandish shit like this to get sympathy and attention and then denying he ever said it later. This story has a lot of similarities to what my ex used to spew.

Once it go to the sister buying a basically a wedding dress, that pings my fake-o-meter.

You’d think so. I can attest that this kind of thing is more common than you think. When I was 19, my friend and I were dating best friends. Her bf dumped her after 6 months out of the blue. I came to find out she was just his “fuck hole” until he got married. To. His. First. Cousin.

My mom gave it to me in 6th of 7th grade!

This reminds me, my husband didn’t know what Flowers in the Attic was about and chose to watch it last weekend when I was out of town. He reported back that he hasn’t been this emotionally disturbed since Blue Lagoon.

That actually happened to me once! I was walking down Santa monica blvd and this guy from across the street screamed, “Hey! hey!” (My nervousness kicked in and I turned but then he screamed) “GREAT BOOTS!!” So I yelled back an enthusiastic “THANK YOU!!”

GO girl. When I was younger, I used to dress in flannel shirts and jeans to avoid attention and instead of catcalls, I got insults, and even “well-meaning,” “Why do you dress like that??” Uh, because you told me to dress down if I didn’t want your fucking attention. Here it is, now STFU.
