I remember a budget McD's published on its web site to help its employees 'better manage' their money (5 years ago). It leaves out heat, food, childcare, and gas and allots 20 a month for health insurance....

all the stars for this ...

Only 1 out of 4 eligible people do apply, and that is sad. We'd rather suffer from hunger pains than the stigma of being a 'moocher.' The messed up thing is that huge industries (like the oil industry) get welfare (subsidies, tax breaks...). As Elizabeth Warren says, no one does it alone. We need to internalize that

The Satanic Temple is pretty cool.

This is how damaging the myth of the American Dream can be...you tell people that anyone here who works hard will make a life that is better than what their parents had and the flip side is all who suffer MUST HAVE failed to work hard. We supposedly live in a meritocracy, where you earn what you are worth based on

I think No Red Tape should be praised. Entering students and their parents need to know if they are visiting a college that has a broken process for handling sexual assault/rape. AND this hits a college where it hurts (revenue). That’s really the only way to get them to make substantive changes (threaten their image

everyone should make time (imho) ... students, professionals, stay at home moms and dads ... everyone

That is the most offensive statement!

I may be alone in this, but if I were the child of a rapist, I wouldn’t want him anywhere near me, ever.

There’s a reason schools perform criminal background checks for teachers before allowing them access to children. Rape is violence (even in the case of date rape) and violence tends to recur. I think we can extend the analogy to parenting.

I get where you’re coming from, but when I think of the potential harm a rapist could do to the child ... I think ‘almost-impossible-to-accomplish’ is way too drastic.

I’m sorry if the grammar I used gave a false impression. I should have phrased it like this “Men have to stop viewing women as objects...” I never intended to imply that this is something women are *doing* (being objects).

With the difficulty involved in even getting a rape case to trial, let alone a conviction, I think that this would be an unreasonable request (that there be a conviction). I do agree that prosecuting rape should be easier. We should be testing all rape kits — ideally immediately after they are collected, maybe

I feel like we’ll never get anywhere with fights involving abortion, birth control, or rape until we have a widespread consciousness shift.

I was just going to point this out. Some legislators believe the pregnancy is proof a rape did not occur.

I think the nail in the coffin is for rape deniers. Asserting that rape doesn’t happen AT ALL on campus, that rape culture is a myth, that’s a step too far. It’s a ridiculous position to hold.

The Nature article from 3 years ago indicates that some “participants” (from the Guatemalan army) unknowingly passed the STDs onto wives and children, who had no way of seeking treatment (in small villages where they were from) and suffered for decades as a result. I think there should be some accountability. An

All the stars to this :-)

Thanks for the heads up!

That’s true. I got a reply back from Wyndam...I think they are feeling pressure to intervene, and I hope they do.
