I totally agree, as a graphic designer that works in advertising. It's not fashion, but we employ similar techniques. It would be impossible to draw the line on a job that's supposed to be a "fantasy" shot. Not aspirational in body type, but more the concept of the shoot.

@DexterHaven: Bingo. It's not the whole cause of her dismissive nature, but it damn well helps.

Hey, look, it's called "curves" and "channel mixing", magazine. You might have heard of it. You know that term "photoshopping"? Yeah, it's actually a program, a program that a lot of people use in their dayjobs that could have fixed this horrible mess.

@BrazenHussy: "Those white women who" There was a specificity in Miz's comment that was pointing out a certain group, not all white women.

@Gnatalby: Exactly. It's not underexposed enough to look purposeful, and the midtones and darks are all a mess. looking at her in person, or even another photograph, should have given them a hint that they were off.

@Carlos Giron: As another photo-person, though... I'm not sure. I think the reason why it's "harder" is because, at least back in my classes, I -never- learned how to light someone with darker skin. All the lighting instruction I had based itself around a light skin tone. I think if someone wants to learn how to light

@Ack: Yeah, the whole thing just looks underexposed to me, and not enough to be intentional.

@minifée: As someone from this town, it's also extremely insulting as a black person because there are NO black people in the town.

@IceRoadHooker: Because, the majority in the country would believe that a black woman attacked her (what, with being all aggressive and overbearing and all), than say, a white woman. Or even an Asian woman, now that I think about it.

@sapril75: Born in Vancouver, Wa, but moved the fuck out of dodge at 18.

So, I was curious as to what Tim Gunn's age was. I go to his wiki page only to read:

I actually like whiskey the most, and make a point of just ordering what I want, be damned the consequences.

As I said in a previous post:

@BadDecisionDinosaur: as a half black person that grew up in that exact same town, I'll vouch for that. I knew personally maybe four or five "black" kinds growing up... in quotes because most of us were halves.

Love the clothes... horrible styling. Like, seriously, the makeup makes me want to run screaming.

@sinead.elliot.: Oh, I know that. I didn't mean R.L. exclusive when I was saying books I liked as a kid.

@curlicue: I actually just wasted my morning when I was supposed to be getting ready reading the end synopsis on wikipedia because I aged out of reading the series before the final books.

@moosesanddeers: I was about to second that. Also, of course, in photography classes you do get portrait lighting lessons, but not really much when it comes to different skin tones. It's why a lot of photographers and even people in film say it's "harder" to light dark people correctly in comparison to people with

Holy shit, R.L. Stine has a twitter. I've always wanted to go back and look at some of the books I enjoyed as a youngin'... Goosebumps, Animorphs, etc. just to see if I can remember the plots.
