Humans have two ‘cameras’, no lidar, and no radar. Basically proof that it’s a difficult but surmountable feat to achieve with 7+ cameras and multi-core processors.

The proof is in the results. Tesla’s many many cameras could no detect a moving train directly in front of it and almost drove a person right into it. Even a crawling infant would know not to crawl right into a large, loud, fast-moving object.

I’d rather pay $80k for a car with the appropriate redundancies than $40k for a car that can only LARP as self-driving.

Autopilot is just a lane-keeping assist (LKA) with cruise control. My wife drives a 2023 Model Y and I have a Hyundai Santa Cruz. My Hyundai also has LKA. If you want the Tesla to drive for you, you’d have to upgrade to either “Enhanced Autopilot” or “Full Self-Driving.”
