I’d like to see more purple.
I’d like to see more purple.
Eh, I’d say their civil society is weak, given that it isn’t able to offer any sort of meaningful opposition to state/government overreach or corruption.
1st and 3rd gear: this criticism isn’t only for Tesla (they just happen to bring it into focus in today’s article), but man, does this drive to expand into international markets (notably regions with weaker regulations and civil society structures such as China, Indonesia and Texas) to exploit their resources, labour…
Absolutely loved the “dishwasher detergent pod” video (and actually learned a lot about my particular model dishwasher, as that’s the one he carved up to use as an example), and the portable airconditioner video.
I mean, if that’s what Tesla “drivers” want to do, that’s cool - I just object with the possibility that their car may decide to shove/drag mine (with my family and I inside) along for the rapid cliff descent ride...
Seems like a question of scale and global reach: Volvo still strikes me as a relatively-niche brand, with customers largely in the developed world (and in Scandinavia particularly, I get the sense that infrastructure is more capable of handling the transition) - in which case, EV makes sense (we can have discussions…
Way back in 2007, I was driving my first manual car - a red 1999.5 early MkIV Jetta with a 2.Slow engine and 5 speed, purchased from the used lot for $6,000 (it had flimsy, broken “O-shaped” cupholders - one of my first “mods” was to buy the fancy “claw-type” cupholders from later MkIV Jetta/Golf models from eBay).
I suppose the downside is if you ever want to register the vehicle in a different jurisdiction (e.g. you move between states, different countries, or sell the car out of state).
I'm sure he had a sound investment case... Just wondering if the combination of the war in Ukraine, increasing interest rates, potential recession, and ongoing COVID issues/fallout in China could've led him to "cut his losses" or bailout ahead of schedule...
Check out the video from the Youtube channel “Technology Connections” for a pretty decent overview at how it works, and why it’s good.
Ah hell, I thought it was Andrew Tate...
4th gear: I’d be curious to know if Berkshire gained or lost on their BYD investment...
If coal-rollers end up having no ICE-only brands to buy from, and end up having to ride a bicycle, you’ll find no objection from me....
I wonder if there’s a case for the FCA/Stellantis umbrella to keep Dodge ICE-only, and put their EVs in other brands?
My exact thoughts: I wonder if Emperor Xi’s noticeable-nakedness means the end of the Chinese “economic miracle” (which was really just digging their way out of the hole they put themselves in under Mao’s “leadership”)?
Neutral:
I actually read this as a win for Tesla - a testament to their crashworthiness.
Legit car guys/gals roll their eyes at guys like Tate.
So that’s where all the harvested Neuralink monkey brains went... Of course monkeys, being from tropical climes, can’t handle driving in the snow (with the exception of those Hokkaido snow monkeys, naturally).
I also think this choice would Kick Ass....
