I can’t express how angry I am that I did not know about this and spent allllllll my PTO last week. LAST WEEK. UGH. Had I only know, I would go eat delicious ass and enjoy some Luda... and probably grab some of these doughnuts too.

They can be? Your choice? Ick...
You are the hero we deserve. Keep up that good fight.
Well yeah. It isn’t going to be that fast. But a usual roast chicken takes about an hour and a half or so. Shaves a bit of time off and cooks more evenly, imo.
Spatchcock that sucker and you’ll be golden. I find that is the best way to roast and get it actually cooked through fastest. And if you don’t have an in-oven thermometer, grab one. That’ll help you have a better idea of how your oven is actually running.
So? We aren’t talking about him, we are talking about someone adapting his books. Weird choice to just throw that out there.
No way. When I was living out of my car and a dumb teenager, I ate like shit too - I am not perfect. Took me years of eating better to undo that damage. We all do dumb shit if we aren’t informed/educated. A lot of poor people may well know it is bad food they are eating, but don’t know how to avoid it or cook, etc.…
No way man. I’m hourly. I will post as much as I can when I don’t have pressing work to do.
Skimmed it. We don’t disagree on everything. Also yeah, didn’t say I had all the answers - just want to see people healthier and better off.
Nope, she worked multiple jobs. When she remarried she still worked. “Fake-poor” huh? Can’t stand that I am not some rich white guy, amirite? And what does a gas bill have to do with free food? It is like you don’t get the issue, which isn’t surprising.
It is far more complicated. And that is what our politicians would solve. The core issue is that junk food leads to health problems. How do we fix that within this specific program?
I agree and disagree. Motive being everything there. The GOP are punitive with this shit. Truly, I think telling people they can’t buy shit food on assistance isn’t bad, but that is because I want to see them healthier.
I’ve been in those shoes. And I am all about dignity for the poor. They work far fucking harder and make way less than most.
Yeah, no to testing. None of that barrier to entry. They are poor - that is enough. But saying “Hey, you can’t buy pepsi and oreos” doesn’t seem unreasonable. Especially when they could be buying oats, beans and lentils, etc.
That is your opinion. I do value their dignity - enough to not want to see them suffering from preventable, diet-related conditions. I want to see them simply eat better food and restricting what their assistance allows isn’t at all “bread and roses”.
I didn’t say it would be easy to implement, just that eating healthy and cooking is easy. They are, if you know how.
