I'd say "The Visitor" was a solid Jake showcase. True, Cirroc Lofton was only in part of it, but he still sold his scenes very well.

The Vulcan cadet might've bought into it from a purely chain-of-command perspective. He's part of a hierarchical organization, and there's a certain logic to following the orders of your commanding officer.

I've been watching a lot of Frasier lately, and even the early seasons of that show (which I'm assuming was one of the more progressive comedy series of its time) had some dialogue and situations that are not necessarily shocking, but still a touch cringeworthy in 2014 terms. That's not including characters that were

Ah, the Agony Booth. I do miss their fantastic, long-form articles. From the looks of things, I suspect the new, nearly-all-video format was more of an economics move than anything. Video ads probably make it easier to keep the site running, especially since (I think) it's not a business venture.

Aluura. It's damn lazy to name the character after her "alluring" good looks.

Voyager had some good stuff (I'd say mid season 3-mid season 5). Enterprise, I felt, fell into a pattern of pandering to its audience, rather than actually improving the writing. A good chunk of the fourth season seems like it was written just to throw some nostalgia meat to the fans before the series closed down.

It is, but some of the early promotional materials and reference works listed it as "Valiant class."

There's a very subtle nod to "Future Imperfect" at the end of this episode. When Bashir discovers the flaw in the program, the characters all freeze in place, as if they're not programmed to deal with the variable, just like when Riker discovers that the future Enterprise is a fake.

The best way to look at Section 31, IMO, is to look at the characters' reactions to it. Bashir and Sisko are appalled by the very notion that the organization exists. It's not like they went, "Obviously this was out there, I'm not really that surprised," which has been the reaction of many to the various NSA

When were the interviews? If they were years after the fact, it's difficult to take them at face value. Could be she wanted to, but didn't like what they were offering. Also, Farrell may have been perfectly willing to do guest appearances, but left it to her agent to make the deal, and it didn't work out.

Storytelling logistics makes sense to me. If they'd let her leave the show w/o killing off Dax, they'd be left with Nana Visitor as the only female cast member. I don't really think they had anyone on deck who could've replaced her. None of the female recurring cast members—Female Changeling, Ishka, Leeta, Kai Winn,
