With newer cars installing an aftermarket isn’t as easy as it was when it was a 1 or 2 din slot. Some require an aftermarket bezel so it doesn’t look like a hack job and I don’t want to think about the wiring harness mess or what functions you will loose removing the integrated factory infotainment system.
63 lbs of force isn’t a nasty bruise. We’re talking about broken bones and severed digits.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Facebook didn’t even venture a guess about my politics. Fine by me, as I strive to stay away from all things political anyway. Kind of surprising how many Doctor Who categories there are, though.
Huh. Facebook finds I am very interested in Gastropod Shell. I have never thought about it, but perhaps I am very interested in Gastropod Shell. What’s not to like?
it does seem a little much, but it seems similar to my “radio must be of replaceable type” requirement. to me, as long as the radio can be swapped, that means there’s no vehicle-critical systems routed through it, it’s only for entertainment. like a radio should be!
What he describes sounds like a malaise-era American land barge that’s been restomodded. He wants a completely analog cruiser with simple styling and a quiet interior. There’s only a handful of things not found on a 35 year old luxobarge: the USB and bluetooth can be handled by an aftermarket head unit and the climate…
Oh this dude is “gluten-sensitive” for sure.
He definitely sounds like he enjoys making life difficult. I don’t like screens in my cars either, but I’ll be damned if I ever have kids in my car without a tablet on hand.
How do want NO driver assist options, but want the beeping parking assist?
The “no screens” thing stood out to me for some reason, sounds like one of those really pretentious yuppie parents who brag about how they don’t let their kids watch TV or play any games.
Exactly. He wants a spartan cloth interior with analog controls and no driving assist tech... but wants sonar bumper sensors, heated seats, USB and power outlets, a giant sunroof, bluetooth, auto climate zones, remote start, and a built-in dash cam?
His car doesn’t exist. Go buy a base level numbered box on wheels and…
Yup. A car for people who don’t give a shit about cars. One day, they’ll have a dented camry.
I don’t know, I think Toyota did it in such a way that it’s self deprecating, not trying to pass it off as some supercar.
I’ve got a lot of love for the Aurora. I remember how floored I was as a kid the first time I saw one on the road, and I still think they’re quite stylish today both inside and out. They also brought a fair bit of innovation and quality to the table, which was especially impressive compared to the other stuff the Big…
I owned one and I agree, it was great. I know the Northstar didn’t have the best rep, but mine never missed a beat
This isn’t overblown at all. The Aurora was among the best American cars of that era.
The Chrysler Pacifica won’t help your “Dad Brand,” because all brands are capitalist constructs.
