I don’t even like having OBD in my cars, so I am with you. Had to drive a Rivian last month, and the touch screens are a thousand times worse than I had imagined.

Older cars that are easily repairable with no advanced technology, paired with third party hardware (touch screen entertainment centers, cameras, etc) that can have their privacy policies independently verified are going to skyrocket in popularity. I’m working on upgrading a 2007 model with a 12 inch touchscreen

I mean it’s not like elevated rail is an unproven technology. The second busiest transit system in the country uses it just fine.

Well, transit needs better funding in general, but:

Like seriously, I own more consoles and retro computers than the day is long and I’ve got exactly zero qualms against emulation. It’s preservation.

weird flex but ok

Yep- taxes are one compounding factor, then there’s import duties, spec differences, regulatory adaptations and, of course, exchange rate fluctuations. The end result is that a direct € to $ conversion is worse than useless.

i still think there should be battery packs that you can rent that hook to the vehicle with a trailer hitch for long trips. of course they would be all WOULD YOU LIKE TO PAY IN ADVANCE FOR A COMPLETE RECHARGE OR FILL IT UP YOURSELF.

I drive 2000 miles a day. I can’t stop to charge! /s

If you are driving 1000 miles per day you need to

“Any vehicle that doesn’t meet my exact specific needs is useless, I tell you, regardless of its utility to other consumers or it’s decreased environmental footprint. USELESS!”

There is not, nor will there likely be an all-electric car that could make that range. Your complaint about being unable to drive 800-1000 miles on a charge is as useful as complaining about being unable to buy a gallon of milk at O’Reilly’s Autoparts. Your expectations are completely misplaced.

Perhaps this car isn’t for you, then? Believe it or not - this is plenty of range for MANY peoples’ use 99+% of the time.

1000 miles a day? how many miles does your car have on it thats crazy

For long trips, you’ll have to purchase the option of a trailer full of electric eels.

So don’t get one. Just because it won’t work for you doesn’t mean it won’t work for 95% of the country.

So, you plan on going on a cross country trip that often?

I say this as someone who loves driving across country and who drives from wisconsin to ohio and back once a month. I’d buy something like this and be pretty happy about it.

Just rent a car for the cross country trip.

Show me a car that can go across the country without stopping.

Yeah. I know how you feel. I went to Home Depot and all the saws they sell can’t handle trees 60” in diameter.

I suppose his next step should be to get a FALSE license plate.  Not a fake - a real plate with the custom text “FALSE”!
