@violininggoat: It is pretty standard across every local jurisdiction that I have seen.

It would be interesting to see an income map, I am guessing they would be near inversely proportionate.
@xd.Balls: Don't be silly. There is a clear difference between depriving someone concrete material property (taking it off the shelf) and unrealized profit (money the company may or may not have made based on what a person may or may not have purchased).
@Stryker412: Do you have any recommendations for software that makes the process easy for DVDs?
@violininggoat: I am not missing the point whatsoever. The settlement cost is only a function of how much they have the possibility of losing if they go to court.
@xd.Balls: Yes, objectively. Theft deprives someone of property - digital piracy does not.
@Stryker412: How does Ripbot work for standard DVDs? I am looking for a simple solution (as close to "1 click" as I can get) for backing up my library.
@Hello Mister Walrus: I reject the idea that the legal damages awarded in piracy cases are established via societal convention.
@xd.Balls: Because the instance of the movie is worth nothing close to that.
@P-Nation: I highly doubt it, it would be nice if they provided a breakdown.
@Hello Mister Walrus: Because it is a more severe crime by generally accepted standards.
@xd.Balls: Except for the laws are way out of whack. It is completely unreasonable for the movie studios to be granted these wildly inflated judgement against people.
@xd.Balls: Either of those are reasonable options, but you need to protect yourself if you are going to download movies.
The tech was friendly, but he could have explained this way better.
@clR3vv: $2,500 for a movie download is not reasonable at all. I haven't ever seen a reasonable argument as to why they get such exorbitant punitive damages.
@Demonbird: But her face is so damn ugly... good thing she has a nice body.
@Antiterra: I can't say for sure which factors create the experience of a better looking game. The main point I was trying to get across is, as a platform, the Xbox 360 has quite a bit to offer (not saying that the PS3 doesn't).
@Kolian: + <3
@Antiterra: I understand the concept up upscaling resolution.
I have been a Sony fan since the original PlayStation - defending its honor with fanboy like zeal over the years.
