This is an odd take on this particular trailer, which actually has a lot more of the bones of the original books in it. You’ve got psychohistory, math, and the cover story of the Foundation (preservation of knowledge). I mean, there’s stuff blowing up in the background, but the dialogue is more cerebral.

LotR spent a huge portion of the films on battles that were barely described in the book, and Dune seems to be adding lots of action not directly described on the pages. This is a little different, as the battles here look like they were never mentioned in the book, but it is an epic about a collapsing empire. Epic…

It introduces Yelena Belova, who in the comics is another Black Widow having also graduated from the Red Room, and will likely take over from Natasha in the MCU. It’s almost certainly as much her origin story as it is a swansong for Scarlett Johansson.
