There very well might be evidence in her favor. I have no idea. Nor do you. Also, a ‘hypothetical’ isn’t bullshit. It’s a ‘hypothetical’ for a reason.

First, this hypothetical you’re presenting is bullshit, since obviously there was evidence offered in her favor which overwhelmed this flimsy garbage.

...let’s all remember the OJ jurors found reasonable doubt in his case, too.

It is a piece of evidence that raises reasonable doubt to people who do not understand sexual assault and who are uninterested in becoming educated about victim behavior and statistics.

Again that is not the point. That a woman or man would would remain in some kind of relationship with someone that raped them should (key word here) not be basis for reasonable doubt. It is in reality. I’m saying it shouldn’t be.

Whether it is in reality or not is completely beside the point. It’s not evidence in his favor and it shouldn’t be considered evidence in his favor.

Except it’s fairly common for victims of acquaintance rape to reach out to the perpetrator. So, even if true, it’s not that much in his favor.

...it’s at least a piece of evidence in his favor

Don’t you remember? All white men are guaranteed one free rape.

We believe that it defies logic and common sense that a woman would seek to re-connect and get back into bed with a man who she says forced her to have unwanted sex just hours earlier

Montague’s attorney is really hitting those discrediting stereotypes hard, isn’t he? “She previously consented to sex with him, so how could she later decline?!” “Her behavior immediately after the alleged rape isn’t what I think I would do if I was assaulted, so she must be lying!” Let me guess, she’s also had sex

Do you even know what the fuck you’re talking about? Due process refers to a court proceeding. The consequences including jail and sex offender status. University discipline is not a court proceeding and due process is not involved because no legal conviction or legal consequences can arise.

Fuck them then. You have no rights to that level of due process when you are just some athlete at a private university. Yale didn’t throw him in jail, they (probably) pressured him to withdraw. Generally, when that happens you are able to re-enroll if it turns out you were innocent of wrongdoing. These players

I find it hard to believe that the campus women’s group is publicizing the allegations all over campus, and the guys tearing down the posters have no idea of the backstory.

Um, you don’t have to jump on a bandwagon and call out your friend as being a horrible person because of an allegation, but you also don’t have to blindly show public support your friend if you don’t really know WTF is going on.

I mean he got expelled. There is nothing he can do. He took leave voluntarily, he did not withdraw voluntarily. It remains to be seen if there is a lawsuit. I’m not making a value judgement here. I err on the side of believing the victim. However, there is certainly a prevalence of a campus rape and universities have

It’s because I have trouble with numbers and letters I can’t always order them correctly. I have real problems with dates too.

The proud pledges of Zeta Psi, Prescott Bush’s old fraternity, holding up a sign that says, “WE LOVE YALE SLUTS,” outside the Women’s Center - where, you know, rape support groups meet.

Maybe they don’t consider themselves actresses *anymore*? That’s how I read it. Like, they’d have to relearn the skills to participate.
