The problem here is not that the girl is a brat but that she is being abused by her mother, the public that either adores her or laughs at her and everyone that contributes to this poor girl's delusion, Jimmy Fallon included.
She is a little kid. She shouldn't be this exposed.

I AM SHOCKED. How could this have possibly happened? It couldn't have anything to do with being thrown into the lime light, forced to perform in front of millions of people and treated like a commodity and a movie star when she's barely out of toddler stage.

Lots of good comments in the original article. To summarize:

Unfortunately, this can happen when children are forced to become bread winners for their family instead of just having a normal childhood. I do not blame Alana one bit. The show is OVER. Time for her to hang up her pageant heels and focus on school and being a normal person. I hope that June comes to her senses and

"Disrespectful, defiant, entitled..."

but that the big personality that we see on TV was merely the result of a pageant mom's prodding.

I find it quite disgusting to call a child a monster when she is just a product of her environment. Obviously Honey Boo Boo's mother uses her for fame and treats her child like an object. How else is Honey Boo Boo suppose to say, "Hey I'm a human! I have boundaries! I also need control over my life!" How children

Ugh children have been known to have tantrums and bad moods that last hours. I don't get people who don't seem to realize that children, god bless them, are selfish little assholes. They're in the process of learning how to say, not hit when they are angry and to be giving, those things aren't natural for a child to

She's 8. Kids get stressed and have bad days just like anyone else. The difference is that they don't have coping skills to deal with it, or experience in hiding it. So they act out, throw tantrums, and generally become little monsters. Unfortunately, hitting and biting can be a part of that. You can't hold a

This has more to do with her parents than her. She's pretty much turning into every child star who has experienced too much fame early in life. After a while, it takes it's toll and they begin to act out.

So, since we're supposed to be all about supporting women, how about this: Alana is eight. Brought up surrounded by people who prod her to be a walking joke. Ladies, don't you remember how awkward 8 was without an entire nation making fun of you? ... imagine being thrust into the spot light as a joke of a human being

I'm amazed that anyone can be surprised at any if this. The situation with this kid is no better than circus elephants trained to perform to line pockets. Including jimmy Fallon by having her as a guest. It makes me sick.

It makes me hate Fallon and his producers more than the little girl and her craven mother. They're awful but Fallon and his show's wanting another "viral" moment of TV was put ahead of that child's welfare. Take after take was done according to this audience member so Fallon could have a "moment" with Honey Boo

Gee, it's so unbelievably shocking that there was a whole television show dedicated to making fun of this child and her family, a taunting and bullying participated in collectively by thousands of adults who should know better on a national scale... and now the child in question, under continual scrutiny and subject

Lets be honest. When you are eight years old, you are not "respectful" or "obedient" no matter who you are, and being a child star, doted on by the masses, just makes it worse. Eight is the time when you're just starting to realize that adults aren't God, and you don't have to treat every word they say as gospel. I

Yes, because the best way to teach a child that violence is never acceptable is through violence! Brilliant.

To the awful people calling a CHILD hateful names, you may want to take a look in the mirror. You will find you are currently made up of a hollow rubber housing with a nozzle at one end. This is because you are being a douche. Stop acting so douchey & you will return to human form.

You put a young child on TV, catapult her to fame, exploit her... and then you call her terrible names? Isn't she a product of her environment? So why point the finger at her when perhaps you should be pointing it towards the adults around her? I feel sorry for the girl and fear for what might happen to her next.

ETA:

and all this is the 8 year old's fault? Or the team of adults, starting with her parents, who manage her "career"?

So, she's a normal kid who was trying to get attention?
