It is incomprehensible to me that Imitation Game gets a Best Director nomination over Selma. I found the former to be an interesting story told in a competent, workmanlike but not revelatory way. The latter was masterful in its storytelling, visual framing, and performative cohesion. You know, DIRECTING.
