The first crackdown is actually the first game to introduce me to achievements as goals to try something you might not otherwise have bothered with in a game, and have some fun while you're at it. The first game was so simplistic, that if it weren't for trying for the achievements, I would have only gotten 5 or so

@haigotron: That's the first thing I thought. Apparently they've just been watching anime for ideas. (note: don't make political plans from anime plots... it's damned silly)

I love Powell's, I just wish they had more sales on new releases, it's hard to justify new books there when they're $7+ more expensive than Borders down the street, though occasionally I do it just to support them. The competition is vicious for locals when the chains undersell that much.

So, in less than a year from release (last november), the Moto Droid is outdated hardware and can't run a current OS. For what was supposed to be a flagship product, couldn't it at least last for a two year contract?

Verizon corporate representatives told our business's wireless services office last year that they would have an iPhone within 6 months. I've heard many similar reports from others.

@dibs ODDJOB: Barely, only for the locals, and I'm not paying them for the content, I'm paying them to rebroadcast through their infrastructure to my home. The business model for cable, fios, and satellite is different from netflix and hulu. If you do a comparison, it *should* be between that type of service.

@mojoald: I know, that's what I was saying: "It's based more on misconceptions of technology by the content providers than anything else, and ignores the fact that whether it be a PC, iPad, or TV you view the content on, the business model is the same."

@Britton: "Plus, you can't complain about paying $10 a month versus $70+ for any other plan."

@Adam Frucci: I realize there is more content, I just feel that the free content they claim to be committed to providing should be available on most of these platforms as well (especially the iPad, which is only an OS feature set away from a netbook or tablet pc). As portrayed above these devices can *only* view paid

If Hulu still says it is committed to ad-supported free content, then why do I have to pay for content on an iPad, when I can watch it for free on a netbook, tabletPC, or UMPC? Why do I have to pay to watch it on the PS3, when I can watch it on any computer plugged into my tv via HDMI? You still aren't making sense

@jeriryan87: The real problem is that if you use Comcast for internet, and don't have at least locals, they charge you more for internet *and* decrease your speed. The small cost difference is worth it for the discovery channel alone I think (usually included with the locals), but I do feel like Comcast pushes me to

@Realityism: Disregard everything I'm about to say: Sure, but most of Hulu's best shows are on broadcast television, which is free, and legal to record for personal use. Netflix provides similar service (they are now streaming most of the series I watch within a couple days of broadcast, same

@sanjeeva7: Why do humans always wait until things all go to hell before acknowledging there's a problem?

@masterage: I would play through *however* many times it took to get to stephen fry. That's a sure bet for replayability right there. :)

ctrl-alt-del is actually the security dialog shortcut, in windows XP it just happens to bring up the task manager if you aren't connected to a domain by default.

Call me crazy, but I actually think the Braun designs don't stand the test of time any more. The materials, controls, details, balance of design elements are all more awkward by modern standards than most design nuts are willing to admit. For their time, they were outstanding, but to say the SK4 will stand the test of

There wasn't really a need for the money bug, it was really easy to make money from property quickly once you had a nest-egg going, which was easy itself if you went for any of the achievements for the side jobs, forcing you to spend a little time chopping or bartending. Money is something I was never short on.

@Fusbun: Hey, I specifically said *my* history, not all history, everyone can have their own pick. :)

@Fusbun: The jetpack mechanics were different, whereas from the Reach beta, the mechanics were actually pretty close to Tribes. More importantly, the base shooter gameplay wasn't up to par with Halo by a fair margin, and it had limited multiplayer. None of the team strategy that both Tribes and Halo thrived on, and

Halo, with jet packs and space battles... It's Halo meets Tribes meets Wing Commander. Bungie has managed to capture all of the key moments in my history with action-based games in one game.
