I don’t get your logic - it’s not “like prosecuting someone for a crime they will commit in the future”. They’re prosecuting him for a crime he did commit - reckless driving.

A slap on the wrist for reckless driving increases the likelihood that more drivers will be willing to engage in similar behavior, which increases the risk that people (including the reckless driver) will be hit, injured or killed by these drivers. The goal is to deter that dangerous behavior. You do that by punishing…
If he’d been charged with attempted vehicular manslaughter or something comparable I’d agree with your point. But ... he was charged with misdemeanor reckless driving. That’s not some amorphous “future crime” and it doesn’t have anything to do with his perceived intent. He was charged with doing the exact action the…
If we’re concerned about prison overpopulation, non-violent drug offenders are the ones to release. People like this guy are a danger to the public and WILL, one day, seriously hurt someone else. This kind of dangerous behavior IS criminal. If you want to race, go on a race track.
This wasn't speeding. If he was doing 80 on the LIE at 2AM, I'd agree with you. This was recklessly weaving through traffic, making multiple illegal and dangerous lane changes, and putting the lives of dozens of others at risk. I'm entirely in favor of felony charges for drivers who injure or kill cyclists and…
In your opinion, someone fires a gun into a crowd and just happens to miss. How should that be handled?
Of course this one wasn’t going to be on the list. Tavarish is literally giving one away...
In theory they’re good - electronic stick saves room and makes for more design options in interior packaging, however if you’re simply going to make it mimic a conventional shifter then it’s pointless and confusing because people will treat it like a conventional shifter. Column mounted and rotary electronic shifters…
I have driven a lot of BMWs with that gear shifter. And while I’ve never had any really crazy shit happen like rollaways, I have found them to be annoyingly finicky at times—not wanting to go into park right away, not always shifting into reverse or drive when I ask, the beeping warning icons you mentioned, etc.
If your shiftier needs an instructional video...
Same here and fully agree, and I’ll take it one step further and say anybody but Audi. Toyota has spent sooooo much money for this race, it’s time to pay off.
Tom, you are reaching dangerous levels of sarcasm. When this much sarcasm is placed together you can create a critical mass of snark that will detonate and consume good intentions within a one week radius.
Honda Accord. You can get it with 3-pedals and it is a damn enjoyable daily driver. You can have it as a hybrid or a powerful V6. It is comfy, affordable, reliable. You can fit real adults in the back seat and it also has a sizable trunk. It’s not a 3-series, but it’s also not a total bore to drive.
It seems the only reason you’d buy this over an S3 is because it’s slightly bigger, at the expense of an enjoyable transmission. If all we’re caring about is AWD and a good interior, the A4 would be just fine for much less coin. I really don’t understand why they would get rid of the DSG in a performance vehicle.…
Any time!
V6 in red doe. 10/10 would buy!
Really, you wouldn’t buy a competent and reliable car at any price?
