Never knew the guy personally, but really enjoyed a lot of his writing. I wish he hadn’t picked this hill to die on, but I know he’ll land on his feet somewhere; he’s too talented not to.

It’s an economics issue: the demand for top-tier sports franchises is high, and the supply is kept artificially low by league charters. No fucking clue how to solve the problem, but that’s the fundamental issue.
Does Insane Clown Posse not qualify, or something?
Did you grade their essays or something?
This has “4chan raid” written all over it.
It’s only about Failure to Cooperate because the other charges failed to stick. It’s really about being the Patriots, and tangentially about Bob Kravitz having a whole family of flying squirrels wedged up his ass.
Pats fan here. I think it probably did happen at some point. But there’s no proof it happened during the AFC Championship game (or at any specific game), and no proof Brady had anything to do with it at any time. Those “deflator” texts were sent in freaking May.
My favorite thing about all the think pieces on Ballers is that they exist. The show is obviously just Entourage with a couple of details swapped out.
Does this qualify as “negging?” Despite the patronizing language, it sounds more like a pompous asshole trying to give a genuine compliment, unless it was used as part of a larger (and deliberate) campaign to get you to behave a certain way.
I particularly enjoy the dueling tramp stamps at around 1:40.
Oops, just responded to wrong post a minute ago.
Granted, we’re not in a political climate where the Second Amendment is likely to be repealed. But legal restrictions on access to guns works great elsewhere, and would likely work just fine here too, if it were politically feasible to pass it.
Accidental shootings and gang-related murders aren’t “senseless violence”?
Just because one particularly outdated law keeps us from passing other effective laws, it doesn’t mean laws can’t be an effective solution. From what I understand, it works pretty well in most other developed countries.
The proposed regulations and laws won’t do anything because they’re toothless. The NRA has succeeded in making the issue so toxic that even politicians on the sensible side of the issue are afraid to introduce meaningful reform. (Not that it would pass anyway.)
It takes some serious intellectual gymnastics to talk yourself into believing something that stupid. How would restricting access to guns not have an impact on “senseless gun violence”?
The real Captain Murphy was way more insightful.
Ecologically speaking, so have dung beetles.
I’m not sure where Sepp Blatter’s Hitler uniforms come from, but I’m willing to bet that they’re acquired illegally, and that dozens of migrant workers have died in the course of making them.
This story is really gross and awful, obviously, which makes it hard to take a public position that isn’t “fuck this guy.” His politics are abhorrent, too.
