Not a Pokemon player but have plenty of experience with similar games (MTG, Hearthstone) and honestly, Pokemon is late in jumping on this. MTG switched to untradeable five-card packs when Arena launched, and Hearthstone has always been that way, the obvious (business) superiority of which is probably what spurred

whoops, wrong article lol

Most of these are pretty clearly not deliberately racist. But the optics are terrible, the cards aren’t relevant in trade or tournament play, and corporations are all tripping over themselves to make empty gestures to hide their complicity in structural racism

I thought you guys shut down Splinter.

Or, y’know, maybe it was heartfelt? You’re robbing people of their agency when you just assume their gestures were performative. Maybe it’s possible to feel empathy for someone who made a tragic but obvious mistake and is going to spend the next ten years in jail.

FWIW, the bird in the Falcons logo has its foot sticking out because its silhouette is supposed to form a stylized ‘F’.

According to Dothraki tradition, shouldn’t Jon be their leader now?

The third one pretty much has to be Dany napalming King’s Landing.

The two they were on record with were the Hodor reveal and the burning of Shireen. I’m pretty sure Dany’s torching of King’s Landing was the unrevealed third one that happened right at the end.

His estate will farm it out to Brandon Sanderson or some other prolific fantasy writer shortly after he dies. If they pick the right one with a proper reverence for the series, they might do a better job than GRRM could be expected to do at this point.

A Lannister always pays his debts. Tyrion promised Bronn Highgarden. And he’s apparently unkillable, so why piss him off?

Sam wasn’t an archmaester in that scene. He had two freaking links on his chain; that’s not nearly enough to graduate as even a regular maester in most cases. They clearly made some kind of exception and let him enroll in maester correspondence school, presumably at the behest of Bran.

It’ll be a milestone in television history, if only for its massive spectacle and budget and the size of its audience, and the influence it had on everything around it. For my money, getting three awesome seasons out of a TV series is a momentous accomplishment—most turn to shit long before that—and they had at least

It may have been the right choice for a series of massive novels and the wrong choice for a television series, even if its creators had made the right decisions every step of the way. Totally different media, totally different constraints.

To be fair, HBO series usually have different endings than their source material, to keep things from being utterly predictable. Although having the whole roadmap ahead of time certainly couldn’t have hurt.

I think what’s confusing people is the fact that multiplication and division are equivalent and share a precedence level. It’s definitely 9.

It’s 9. Left-to-right, and division and multiplication share the same level of precedence, because ultimately they’re the same operation.

This is the quintessential AV Club comment.

The game is bad, though. At least Apples to Apples requires a modicum of creativity. Cards Against Humanity is basically “who has the card with the raunchiest dick joke on it?”
