Kotaku has become complete garbage since Schreier left. It was already spiraling before that, likely due to the new(ish) ownership. Journalistic integrity and capitalism, as it turns out, are not particularly compatible.

Still nicer than publishing “human cost of Fallout76" next to “how i lick diablo immortal ass today”

The corporate overlords forcing you to make these things knows that the whole “pivot to video” was a result of Facebook straight up lying about their numbers, right?

Worse.  Slideshows are bad, but can be read through without sound.  Videos without text can’t, making them worse.

You mean the same Embracer Group you guys have written like 5 or 6 articles about in just the past month?

TBF I don’t think any of the original Rare staff that worked on their classic franchises is still around at the studio at this point, Ship of Theseus and all that.

I personally felt the complete opposite.

It’s been 16 years since FF has gone full fantasy. The trailer looks great technically, but I’m underwhelmed by the gameplay. It seems to be a mix of hack and slash and Soul-like tactical combat, and just doesn’t look interesting.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

This guy is over here rooting for corporations to milk the most out of consumers. Accompanied by some sort of fedora laugh.

Really weird.

Alrighty, you made me a card-carrying believer with this video. The CRT lines makes things downright beautiful. The difference seems to be most obvious with how games handle water (especially waterfalls) and faces. Definitely gonna be playing these classics with the CRT on.

Nah, starting over with a new zero-to-antihero was the smart move.

Personally I felt like that’s where they jumped the shark and it went from Saint’s Row (which had finally fully distanced itself from “Grand Theft Auto...but not”) to basically just being “Crackdown...but not”.

Boy, this list is jacked up (in my opinion). I haven’t played Borderlands VR or the iOS game, but after that I’d go:

Lol, yeah it's a fun little time killer for a couple hours at a fair price. But there's not much there and everything it's doing has been done before.

...uh, yeah, it’s a fun game, but it’s not some masterpiece or anything. It does a good job of creating enough complexity and challenge, and is certainly worth the money, but it is not one of the best games of 2022...

so it depends on how the mirrors are done, 99/100 times for older hardware the reflections were not actual reflections but an entire second room with an invisible wall separating them and code to flip the inputs in the right way so that the second character you are controlling moves the right way. this was done

I would be very surprised if the Switch was not capable of running these games natively. More likely Square just didn’t want invest the time/money to port them properly, and are instead just using this as a testbed for their cloud streaming tech.

I’d agree to that only if they incorporate some of the aspects of Diddy Kong Racing into it.
