This makes me wish that Jeep had put in just slightly more effort with the original Compass (after fixing the looks and jagged interior plastics). It shared a platform with the Lancer; surely they could have borrowed some Evo hardware for a less rock-crawly, more fast-dirt-roady version.

Sport Clips unfortunately does not nearly live up to the potential of its basic premise. It’s nice having a TV there, but they have the volume cranked up to 15/10, and then the stylists shout over it to try to make conversation. It was awful.  Never going back.

It’s rear wheel drive with a limited slip differential...why? It has twin motors. Does a limited slip make any sense when they could do torque vectoring? Does it make sense to have any differential at all?

CAFE rating is based on footprint AND vehicle type. Lift a hatchback a couple of inches, and they get to grade it on a more favorable curve, so it does more to offset a large truck even if it’s less efficient. That’s some bullshit.

That’s the one thing I absolutely loathe about my Focus. If I wanted the car inserting its opinions into my shifts, I’d have bought a damn automatic.  Where do you even start to get that reprogrammed?  I’m mechanically inclined, but pretty hopeless when it comes to ones and zeroes.

I would hope that the “more than 30 days” part would be enough for Congress to get its act together and approve or reject continuation of the state of emergency, but that might be overly optimistic on my part. Maybe make it 60 days.

The bill also prohibits a transfer of firearms by people who aren’t licensed dealers, with exceptions for gifts to family, and transfers for the purposes of hunting, target shooting, and self-defense.
