No one needs the hair shirt and self-flagellation. Just admit he’s a talented guy, AND a social garbage fire, without pretending the movie is entertaining DESPITE his involvement. You know it wouldn’t have been as willing to take those big risks without him.

I think it’s fair to say that this movie was great *because* of Whedon and not in spite of him. I know it’s in vogue to declare that the guy is an irredeemable monster and dismiss all of his strengths as a result, but he is an incredible talent who has produced a lot of top-tier work.

Why's he using they to describe himself, they is a group, they is not singular, he or she or it is singular. Please don't use multiple to describe a singular being please, that's mucho confusing.
