Can you not read? There’s nothing inherently dangerous about passing in a double-yellow zone. There was no blind corner, plenty of distance to the nearest peak in the road, and mostly clear countryside all around. That’s why this kind of pass is commonly practiced. The only danger was the jackass in the car.

While I agree with you in principle, this is fairly standard riding in Texas and wouldn’t be considered reckless or even really overly dangerous. Whether or not the rider was wrong is completely irrelevant. The rider didn’t try to run anyone over.

It doesn’t take much to pass a vehicle going 20mph below the limit. I would have done the same thing to pass in my car. Likewise, using no gear is an idiot’s move, not an asshole’s.

“Sanders added in the clarification post that his reason for passing the car was its slowing down to around 20 mph under the speed limit for that particular area.”

“Sorry for passing you on a double yellow, I’d love to help pay for any hospital bills you have oh wait”

They’re not going that fast. The camera man is riding a smaller displacement bike, so it sounds like he’s really getting on it when he goes to pass, but you can tell by how quickly they are passing those mile markers and road signs, they’re not really tearing it up.

...I don’t know that not wearing gear and passing on a double yellow equate to assault with a vehicle...
