As a scientist, I also get frustrated with the lack of controls in many human drug trials. Sure, some people may see it as “unethical” or “morally reprehensible” to knowingly subject a sample group of people to a disease where they may die...but that is just the cost of progress, damnit.

My elderly cat had the same thing. We had to give our cat a completely separate room in the house to keep the poop situation at bay. You are not a bad cat owner. It’s no different than what we do for our elderly human family members; we accommodate their illness and make them as comfortable as possible.

I go to professional conferences and get hugs from colleagues, and I think it’s weird. Yes, we haven’t seen each other since last conference, but we aren’t really close so why are we hugging? I’m not a hugger in the first place, so I really don’t get it when strangers want to.

I had this happen recently in my beloved 95 Ford Escort. Had the car for 15 years in New England before driving it south to FL where the over the past 5 years the heat just destroyed everything in the old girl. I see the heat taking its toll on my newer Honda, too. Nothing survives very long here.
