I think the problem is not the cars themselves, but their associated fandoms.
Point out any of the actual problems that any of these cars on this list had to them, and prepare to give blood. Each of them are good cars, certainly peaks in the history of the automobile, but to hear each group of enthusiasts tell it, it’s

I don’t think these came as a manual in the states, so you’d either have to find a swapped one, or swap it using that budget. They are unique though.

First big mod can be sticking a manual in it, since they never came like that. Otherwise I agree - love these cars.

The primary purpose of a truck is carrying a payload in the bed. That’s. It.

I LOVED my single cab S-10. This is very cool. I doubt that a single cab, small electric truck will EVER come to market though.

The best Porsche to buy is a CPO or used Porsche.  Let someone else take the depreciation, you’ll just be on the hook for the (mother-of-god-expensive) maintenance.

That is super annoying. It only works when you’re not moving and not generating any Gs.

Of all the Mercedes-Benzes that I don’t want to buy, I don’t want to buy this one the least.

You have a 72 year old govt official dad who daily drives a BRZ

Get over it? Every company throws out a pile of shit when it comes to marketing. The story of “we just took the old car and made it better in virtually every way” isn’t as sexy... even if that’s really all they had to do since the biggest problem with the old 370Z was the outdated interior.

Could I interest you in a GR 86?

Have you heard about this new Toyota GR86?

Also, I’m thinking 2008 Cayman S maybe

All of these are wrong. Wait for the GR 86.

We can’t wistfully recount old-school sports cars, lament their disappearance amid the onslaught of technology and then complain when successors arrive that are, in a few ways, slightly old”

They hate Carvana like they love click through slide shows.

Well Kinja ruined that joke....

I wish I could too. Just bought a house and my wife had our baby a few months ago, so I’m very down on available funds. Hopefully those who do have funds can show that support!

Exactly, I rarely end up with the car I had in mind when I start looking.

Not just the Toyobaru Twins and the Z, but the rumors of the Integra, and the new WRX teasers give me hope that manual transmission lovers (like myself) will have little renaissance of newish cars to choose from. Add in the cars that are already out (Golf, Hyundai N, Mustang, Camaro) and as long as you have the money

One of the things I love about that game are the cars. It’s like a world where the impractical crazy concept cars all get approved for production.
