We laugh at the hilarious jargon and nonsensical explanations in Star Trek and other sci-fi programs, but the truth is we need technobabble in order for these shows to make sense.

Ah. The free market solution. Because that’s worked out so well for repressed people for hundreds of years.

Why is your take basically saying the company should be able to treat employees in this manner?  If that is not your position, how else will they stop, other than being sued by the people being mistreated?

There’s a difference between choosing a field that is lower paying (Russian Medieval Literature scholar) and working at a place of employment that breaks the law.
