I spoiled this episode for myself because I stupidly read a buzzfeed post which warned spoilers and I thought, please it can't be that bad. And then I came here to confirm that it really was that bad and also because I'm a sadist. Then I watched the episode.

Agree. As much we can say the writers went to shit with Bellamy's character last season, that's the character we're stuck with. And with a show that has struggled over guilt, for Bellamy to get off scott-free would be disingenuous to the high stakes nature of the universe.
