Sales doesn’t want anything to do with service generally, we’d rather use outside vendors cuz we pay retail rate to service internally....

Yup.

Did your friend finance any amount? Not all lenders require inspection though that’s rare as lending on collateral with no idea of its condition isn’t great business practice. Not all states require inspection. In Most states, even selling you back your own lease makes the dealer liable for deficiencies in minimum

They DO own the car, it’s brought into inventory, it’s assigned a VIN stock number and “sold.” A contract is drawn up, transfer of ownership and registration are done.

Most states require record of inspection at sale from a dealer. If you weren’t financing the residual, you’d just write a check + T&L. If you’re financing any part of the residual, the lenders going to want record of condition of their collateral. Inspection = time = money and dealers (really, no one) works for

“I never quite understood the purpose or the appealof a “faster” Land Rover. The standard cars are quick enough.”

Always amuses me that “enthusiasts,” who don’t buy new cars, whine about how new cars aren’t equipped the way they want other people to be able buy them so they can get them later, they way the want them 🤣🤣

I’d love to see your source, please provide a link which validates your opinions. TIA

Except that it’s not a rebodied BMW but rather a codesigned project.

TBH, early adopters rarely care about the premiums they pay to be first.  They have the resources to do so and aren’t looking at any value proposition.

NAILED IT!

Dealerships buy from auctions and no ones buying.Even if the sold direct to dealers, dealers are paying a premium for ANY used cars currently, certainly not anything which requires additional disclosure...

I mean, if you can admit you don’t understand the difference between an opinion (albeit an informed one) and a statement of fact, I’ll certainly admit that you wasted your time trying to be right.

They’d sell these as fast as they could build them...

I’m always amused by the time ignorant people, who don’t understand basic concepts like “generalization,” will spend trying to prove how witty they are.

“You know what you think; not everyone thinks like you do. This shouldn’t be news.“

Yeah, I don’t get how the grey’s work tbh...

Kinda like you don’t know they ARE “beyond pure speculation and expectation...”
