Dealers can’t work with Lessees To find an acceptable price, why they CAN do is offer them options to finance their expiring leases and offer incentive to buy a new car.

Yeah, except that a) I never said nor asserted that the problem rested with “customers with unrealistic expectations,” I said that the industry should REMOVE negotiations (that everyone on all sides hates) by making that expectation MSRP. You understand that, dontcha? B) question, which came first, the chicken or…

You made my point for me. You can’t barter nor should you be able to. Buyers just feel they SHOULD be able to.

That’s exactly who I’m talking about. Except that the customer in question thinks I’m being a dick because I won’t play their game or do what they want, the way they want.

It’s refreshing to run into a fellow Jalop with common sense.....

Also, Kellog has MAP pricing, retailers don’t go below except when there’s preauthorization.  As a food product producer who sells and distributes to many retailers and specialty retailers, I can tell you all about how that business works from the inside and provide copies of contracts to validate my position🤷🏽‍♂️

Tell that to a franchised dealer who loses allocation or access to “special” cars due to selling over MSRP..

Yup, and sellers lose their asses in hopes of success through wider visibility....

One of the things which has always perplexed me the most, is how many people will negotiate a deal on a car they want, go through the whole process, take delivery and immediately start shopping to see if they could’ve gotten a BETTER deal.

How many people were you going to send to them to buy had you gotten the deal?

See my above comment.

You make the most money on repeat and referral customers. The customers you’re talking about take the most work, don’t service their cars at the dealership because “it’s a ripoff,” give you shitty surveys costing you money, feel they should be treated as royalty anytime they need anything and can’t WAIT to tell their…

Sometimes, when a customer is being a dick, I’d rather kill the deal or win a small battle like a payment or selling price bump just because.  It’s okay to fire customers every now and then.

Dealer cost is invoice less holdback, period.

Yes, MANY people seem to....

As a dealer, I’d absolutely advise you to do just that, it’s in my best interest since your leased vehicle isn’t mine and I’m not interested in lying more than it’s worth in trade.  I’ll ground it/terminate your lease for you, sell you a new one and let the lessor either come get your lease return or let me buy it at…

You’re so far off it’s not even funny.  Dealers pay for the car AND pay interest on the loan on the car based on their flooring plan, typically 90 days interest free for new cars and 30 days on used.

Have you ever walked into a grocery store?  Costco?  They are outlets for manufactured goods.  Can you ask and receive the invoice for the item you’re interested in buying?

It’s always refreshing to see how wrong some people are. What do YOU believe Is representative of what dealers pay and why do you believe that what I paid for something I’m selling, has any relation to what I sell it for?  I’m assuming you wouldn’t sell your house for what you bought it for nor did you ask the seller…
