Dealers pay invoice less holdback. Have you ever looked at an actual dealer invoice? What amount do you believe they pay?

Kohl’s and amazon have MAP pricing and EVERYONE purchasing, gets the same price. Same with grocery stores, you buy something either at list price, on sale which everyone can have or with a coupon which comes from the MFG and is also available to everyone who gets one.
Fair but we don’t know what the dealer put into it to make the deal on the new car. You know, that deal where the person trading wants to buy the new car for $4k under invoice, before manufacturers incentives (can’t tell you how man times this has come up and I’ve sold them many times) and want retail or better for…
This.
Question, if there were so many CTS coupes that we’re priced better, why didn’t you buy one? 🤔
The very same people think their trade in is worth more than wholesale....
“I was shopping for a new Toyota Tacoma and the dealer told me straight up, ‘We are not selling these below our invoice cost. Given the current situation, we need to make every deal count.’ What does that mean?”
“This means that some dealers are refusing to take back leases because they know they’ll have a difficult time selling the cars....”
Meh, your argument for building a $60k Land Cruiser or G-Wagen fails for the same reason Ferrari won’t build a sub-$100k Dino/F chassis. It’s just not necessary and the have no issues with selling every one they build..
It’s good to have positive balance sheets in times of turmoil, I’ve been a fan🤷🏽♂️
THAT’s your best shot? Please tell
100% agree with you and tbh, the car industry caused this problem in the first place by STARTING to negotiate price to increase competition. Car buying should be like almost every other retail transaction, you pay MSRP or, if there’s a sale and you’re in the ball, you get a better deal. Where I disagree with you is…
You sound like the “customer” who likes to waste time and blame everything on everyone else but himself. Every dealership has a customer like you, many jokes are made. As for me, for about the last 10yrs, over 75% of my business has been repeat and referral, my customers rarely spend much time at the store and I’m…
If you didn’t walk in with a bag of green money or a cashiers check, did it occur to you that the night actually BE waiting on bank approval?
Not at all, I’ve both bought and sold cars that way fir over 20 years 🤷🏽♂️
You’re not the majority....
Far from typical....
Most people never need to leave their homes to get most of the things they want/need yet aside from the current situation, most people don’t 🤷🏽♂️
20 mins is just not realistic. The key to remember is that no one in the dealership wants to take any longer than is necessary to get you smashing bugs. No one makes any more money by spending unnecessary time on a deal.
Totally get where you’re coming from but by the same token, you can run the numbers be they lease or finance, online, prior to stepping foot into a dealer.
