Interesting, I also sold new BMW’s also, MB, Ferrari, Bentley, Toyota and ford over my 13 year career in that industry. Younsound like the disgruntled “old car dog” who always complained about all the reasons he wasn’t making any money while the top guys went out an MADE money. (We always privately laughed at you)

Lobbying and campaign contributions? SHOCKER!! STOP THE PRESSES!! An organization representing a special interest group is doing what every other organization representing a special interest group does within the law.

Translation: “I have no evidence to support my position so I’m going to act like a toddler and stomp off with my fingers in my ears.”

It’s very simple, dealers aren’t bribing lawmakers, manufacturers don’t want to be in the direct to consumer business aside from Tesla BECAUSE they have no dealer network (at SOME point, they may even make money but currently, they continue to try to close theirs “factory showrooms” because they suck and are an

Dealer networks exist because dealers more efficiently handle consumers and to satisfy anti-trust requirements (Which is also why dealers aren’t forced to sell at MSRP) cars WERE sold direct from manufacturers, coincidentally, it was when most people got their milk delivered by dairy’s.  They sucked at it.

Curious, why don’t you buy milk straight from the dairy? Vegetables direct from farmers? All of your electronic devices direct from the manufacturers, here’s a good one, do you drive up to the refinery to fill your tank up?”

Someone please direct me to the place where Porsche refers to the Panamera as a “wagon.....”

*when people don’t understand why dealer networks exist in the first place.

It’s not passing the test, it’s the liability of keeping your clients compliant.  The cost is a LOT less than the potential fines and penalties...

People who want their interiors to have the look and feel of an expensive saddle will continue to buy this trim level over the arguably more luxuriously appointed Navigator.  They’ll also drive them while wearing wranglers, boots and hats.  This will in no way cut into navigator sales.

My bad, I shouldn’t talk about the cars I buy or drive, on a car blog post where buying cars is what’s being discussed... what I should do is brag about salespeople coming to my house on weekends to pay me to take their cars....🤣🤣

Tesla never wanted to have to play in an equal footing with traditional manufacturers, because they CAN’T. They wanted to bypass setting a dealer network up by selling direct to public and they’re doing a fairly good job of burning thru capital trying to do it.

When you understand that North Koreans and South Koreans look the same and speak the same language and that the North has eyes on the ground in the South, you will begin to understand why most of your point is irrelevant.  THAAD is only moving once a shooting war starts, not when one isn’t anticipated.  These NK MLRS

We can talk any time, this mont, im driving anew Aston Martin on Distributor plates and haven’t talked to a salesperson in Years.  We can drop tray to see who shifter is long throw anytime but only one of us seems to be insecure enough to NEED to🤣🤣🤣

Man, you really NEED me to be in the car business to somehow validate your arguments.

Actually, that’s how manufacturers WANT it. Manufacturers make cars to sell to dealers, who pay franchise fees and offer captive finance while providing outlets for necessary warranty repairs and federal recall service.  Dealers aren’t in business to sell new cars, there’s fairly little money and a shit ton of hassle

Yeah, there are plenty of stories of dealers doing shady shit, in any industry, there exists a segment that does things below board.  It’s unfortunate but it’s a fact of life.

Or, understand basic principles of supply and demand. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Of course you should just like dealers should use the laws or supply and demand to make money on desirable new cars.  See how that works?

As was the comment that no one is forcing dealers to be in the auto business... I bet you thought your response was really clever....
