Depends on how sales tax is calculated in your state. In AZ, you pay sales tax on the difference, in CA, you pay sales tax on the selling price THEN subtract the trade value.

Literally everyone in the car business knows that you make the most money on repeat & referral business, they teach you that on day one right after they show you where the coffee machine and car keys are.....
“they are no longer an option. Thank God.”
You sir, get a star....
Anyone can walk into a Ferrari dealer and buy a car though you will almost never find a new car on any Ferrari dealer showroom. What most often happens is that a “good customer” will have multiple orders in for highly desirable models with appropriate deposits, specc’d the way the dealer wants it, Ferrari (or insert…
Is it wrong that my takeaway from this is that Toyota should try to sue ISIS for “using their trademarks and car models for purposes totally inconsistent with their brand perception?” Can you imagine jihadis throwing down their AK-47’s when they find out they’re no longer able to drive around in Toyota Hilux’s?
Fair, that comes down to personal preference. Spend enough time in SD/OC/LA bumper to bumper traffic and an automatic is still faster 🤣🤣
The last manual cars I owned were a 2001 F360 Modena and it was superb, replaced by a 2004 GT2. The GT2 was replaced by an 05 Gallardo E-Gear and I haven’t been back to a manual since. (The E-Gear wasn’t the best transmission ever nor was the SMG equipped M5 that followed but I digress)
It’s a GM product, there will be issues with it beyond the first year, and people will get bent over for at least the first couple years, until demand slows and everyone who really WANTS one, gets bent over. Once the reality of needing to actually TRY to sell them sets in, they’ll start selling at MSRP rather than…
Yeah, pointing out reality is trolling...
My bad, to be an “enthusiast,” you have to want your cars manual, preferably I wagon or shooting brake style and speak of both with one unified, longing voice. Buying and enjoying cars or discussing the realities of the market isn’t encouraged or desired.
As long as the brands customers continue to buy their product BECAUSE it’s synonymous with luxury and performance.
“I’d buy one but......”
The point is “enthusiasts” don’t buy enough new cars to make manufacturers move the needle in the direction they want it moved🤷🏽♂️
It’s not about old people who don’t drive them:
Meh, that’s not true. It can be done, they just can’t make any MONEY doing it. GM gets to make hay with the ~$40k base price that they know few will order. Know who else made a LOT of hay with a $35k car that had “enthusiasts” in a lather? Tesla. How many of those $35k base Model 3’s do you think are on the road?…
Yes, the corvette name absolutely has its own cachet, quite a few (if not the majority) of people who buy one will do so for exactly that reason which is also the reason they’re not cross shopping it. They’re buying it cuz they WANT a Vette.
So, you’re proving there’s an exception to every rule then?
The 60 year old happens to be who can generally afford to buy them and most often does.
Not an unreasonable argument at all but the C8, as great a car as it will likely be, will still never have the Cachet of the Porsche or BMW.911 lover who can’t quite reach that budget may buy a Cayman but likely won’t substitute a Vette nor will an M3 buyer who ends up in an M2.... also, did Chevy teach the Vette how…
