So, you read “no one buying a C8 is cross shopping it against anything” and you somehow decided that you cross shopping one that you’re NOT buying, somehow proves me wrong?🧐

Sure, he’s the best and if the majority of professional drivers were doing similarly, your point would be valid BIT, they aren’t and it isn’t.

I agree that GM is doing a solid job of attracting buyers to the brand with this new offering, I’m cynical that it will amount to anything as the percentage of people who will take the base car will be low, the percentage of dealers who will waste an allocation slot on a base car without a hefty mark-up (when I was at

Great, So you think the .00001% should drive the market🙄

Sure, there will be those but they will be the exception as always. I worked at a Chevy store when the C5 was introduced, you could by a base model, manual hard top but guess which stock car sat on the lot the longest? The base car... meanwhile, the heavily optioned cars didn’t stay in stock for more than a few days

On paper, the people who can afford the massively more expensive cars younspeak of, don’t care that you can (potentially) buy the Vette for ~$40k... if I’m looking for a 911, it’s not the base model and I’m not concerned about the relative value of the Vette cuz I WANT a 911....

I’m pretty cynical 🤣🤣

Doubtful.  While some will, as is always the case, the Vette doesn’t have the cachet of the other suspects.  “Most” Vette buyers want vettes.

Yup they sure do but once your $40k Vette becomes $80k, it’s  o longer the value proposition you’re talking about.

You clearly missed the sarcasm while validating the underlying point.

They will because today’s buyer understands (much like race car drivers) that automatics are simply better.

And once you start ticking option boxes, you’ll end up in a range that any car you’re comparing becomes a better proposition. I personally like the idea of blue collar performance cars but take a look at where decently optioned Mustangs and Camaro’s are priced now.....

Not in the first year.  I’d bet that most of year one/two production (depending on total numbers being built) are snapped up by people who have bought more than one previous generation.  People said the same thing about the C5 coupe but that simply wasn’t what people wanted.

2jz swap, motec exhaust, a hundred shot of nos, some cool graphics and these vetted will be worth owning!!

Neither of you are the typical Vette buyer🤷🏽‍♂️

No one buying a C8 is cross shopping it against anything.  They’re buying corvettes because the WANT a corvette.

100% guarantee dealers are taking deposits/orders so that the instant they get allocation, they can place AND also guarantee that GM isn’t discouraging the practice

No, they aren’t... if they were, they wouldn’t be nearly sold out before car 1 was delivered.

But wait, no manual transmission option and people are actually BUYING them??  The secondary/tertiary buyers aren’t gonna touch these with a 10ft pole 🤣🤣🤣

Does it clone with the10ft pole or does the buyer have to source that separately?
