“Fairly expensive” you pay like $50/yr for the personalization of a standard plate here in CA....  any of the special interest plates generate revenue for the associated special interest.

I agree with your comment if by “basic economics” you’re referring to the relatively small number of people who care, who likely weren’t going to buy one anyway... The people have spoken, even Lamborghini has seen the writing on the wall and stopped producing dinosaurs 🤷🏽‍♂️ 

Because no one who’s actually going to BUY one, cares about a manual.  Also, while the parts seem expensive, the R&D and additional production time make it an expensive proposition for the 1% of people who’d want one but will STILL buy one anyway

Online configurators exist to get you into a dealer to take delivery of something in stock that’s equipped the way MOST people will buy them. Most people would be fascinated to learn what can actually be done.
