I owned a BX for a few years while I was stationed in Germany back in the ‘80s. If you’re in Japan (I’m in Korea these days) I have two words for your BX idea.

Love that old Merc!

And it didn’t take long for that Maserati engine develop serious problems. It was derived from a V-8, chopped off two cylinders and no re-clock or re-balance. And then there’s that timing chain....

It ain’t just the geography things, but “Virgin America”? Are there any virgins past middle school age left in America?

Different scenario. The F-4 and A-7 weren’t jointly developed by the Navy and AF together. The Navy built the programs and Secretary McNamara basically told the AF to shut up and color (buy them). Both platforms got some mods from the AF (and Navy) in subsequent production. Initial development didn’t involve as many

May I please unsee this now?!

Homer’s Car Syndrome”! Hard to think of a better description of how concurrency actually plays out in the field!

I’m on the RoK these days, keeping company with the grunts. I can’t imagine how anybody can stay in the service these days.

I’m retired USAF (fighter community), and I’m with Tyler on this. A fighter MUST be expendable, a squadron should never have to face the “Capital Ship Dilemma” while generating combat sorties. My biggest (but not only problem) with the F-35 Toad.

Yep, I vaguely remember attending a mass briefing on the concurrency concept a couple years before I retired from the USAF. I remember afterwards another MSgt saying “Command Bullshit!” while his facial expression said “We won’t be able to talk the brass out of this goat-rope.” We knew we it was time to pucker up.

I remember my delight upon discovering my VW golf mk2’s starter doubled as an engine mount! You can love a German girl, but she don’t necessarily love you back....
