Well, I suppose we have different experiences. Funny thing, that. There's no need to be condescending.

That was definitely not the norm in either of the hotels I worked in. I've never heard of it being the norm.
... yes, that is what I said.
In my first comment I stated that I live in BC. Minimum wage is $10.25, minimum wage for liquor servers is $9.
Nope. $9 is the lowest - it's obviously not acceptable, but it's nothing like $2!
I was a hotel housekeeper, and it was definitely not customary to leave a tip. Most of the tips I did receive were from Asian guests, who would leave $1USD. I haven't moved to a different pay scale - I'm a student. I didn't say that I never tip, I said that I don't always tip.

I realize that living wage is much higher than the minimum, and I don't believe that tipping is in any way a solution to that. When I was low income in Victoria, I made $11.50/hr working housekeeping, less than full time, with basically no tips. It's really shitty. Minimum wage needs to be raised, drastically, and the…
Is that the minimum for servers vs other minimum wage positions in the US? In BC the minimum wage is $10.25, $9 for liquor servers.
"entitled princess act", lol.
You can feel free to not believe me. Our wages for plenty of positions aren't a living wage, yet I don't hear anyone talking about tipping in any realm other than serving, in restaurants.
Yes, minimum wage really needs to be upped in.. everywhere, really. I don't believe in the whole "tipping culture". When I was a housekeeper I was making $11.50/hr in the end, above the minimum but still not a living wage. But it's not expected to tip a housekeeper, so I was lucky if I found some forgotten spare…
I don't tip when service is poor. Personally, I don't think it's bad form not to tip, nor is it bad manners. I don't really understand that line of thought. I know that we have the same tipping culture, and it's not one that I agree with. I don't know what you mean by extra wages covering extra cost?
Yes, they should abolish tipping. Yes, I'm one of those ~eeevil~ people who don't always tip. Before you rip my face off, I live in BC and we can't pay waitstaff $3/hr here.
Seriously? Fuck off, racist.
If voting in favor of equal pay, complete and unrestricted access to reproductive health care, and stronger punishment and longer statutes of limitations for crimes against women doesn't make me an ally, well then shit.
I do the rotation. Buy new underwear and look great and they slowly (or quickly) stretch their way to period panties. Or you unexpectedly get your period, and boom. Your absolute favourite underwear is now a period panty. Sometimes they just become "feelin' comfy" panties instead of strictly period panties.
I guess, really, as long as she doesn't get marker or anything on the actual pillow, it isn't a super big deal. It is obnoxious and wasteful, though. If she did get something on the pillow, we'd have to toss it.
