15 dead now.
This is SJHL, so a step down. But still very serious, very good players. Serious enough that it’s sounding like quite a few of the deaths were boys who were from other provinces.
The coach was from a small town in northern Alberta, Peace River, and my mother-in-law knows his family. He’s apparently one of the dead.
I mentioned her dad in commenting on a Deadspin piece a few months ago:

And at the same goddamn time, too. We were blessed, and didn’t know it.
We all have to work hard to live up to our parents.
Jesus. I hadn’t even thought about that. Good catch.
I may have missed it, but I do not recall any mention here of the Jays playing the Canadian national junior team and having Guerrero, Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio and Kacy Clemens up against the pitching of Braden Halladay of Team Canada for one inning. And then I read this and see there were even more.
I may have been trying to make a small pun.
The House of Daniel by Harry Turtledove and Home Game by Paul Quarrington are both excellent books about barnstorming, one a fantasy novel, the other leaning that way. Both utilize the author’s own version of the House of David.
Well, that too.
Judging by the wide view of that video, the Earth isn’t flat, it’s Rama.
He needed a big pair of tEstes to do this in the first place.
