I'm kind of shocked that the VW Mk. IV platform isn't on this list. Long after most of us had moved onto the much-superior Mk. V, the Mk. IV soldiered on in places like Brasil and China.

When you said floor mounted shifter I nearly gasped with excitement. Alas, Ford went with an SUV interior and that terrible console. I want a floor shifter that is not concealed in anything. I want a bench seat with a 2 foot tall shifter that goes through a hole on the floor. Like the good ole days. Le sigh.

No prob. People always get confused when I say I have an SMG, because it's so incredibly rare to have both a wagon and SMG—and also sometimes because I'm a lady who clearly can't be trusted to know such things. It's fantastic in DC's stop and go traffic though.
