The art really is gorgeous in this book. So many solid draftsmen, so few good cartoonists in modern comics. Reilly is both.

If Germany in the 1st half of the 20th Century had a population comprised of 12% people of African ancestry, they would have shot straight to the top of their list undoubtedly.
I was a little younger. Late Night premiered when I was a Freshman in high school. I would pretend to go to bed around the time Carson came on and then sneak back out an hour later to watch it quietly. My mom would wake up screaming at me and make me go back to bed all the time.
Elliot was so great on the show. My favorite is probably the giant pool of coffee, but there’s really too many great bits to choose from.
Self hate. Same as everyone else.
Less confectionary would sour Fellowes constant theme though. That the ruling classes are ultimately benevolent overlords who deserve their place.
My guess is they are spacing out all Star Wars and Marvel content as much as possible to reduce the “subscribe - unsubscribe” model.
You can almost feel Disney resisting the urge to cast Karen Gillan as Ventress.
Maybe its just me but I would actually cast actors of Middle Eastern or North African descent if I’m casting Barriss Offee
Yeah. I don’t see it either
Thousand(S) of years before LoTR; not a thousand. Takes a hit off inhaler.
In the 70s and early 80s the Egyptian stuff was there but abstract. Like at times you weren’t even sure it was real or a delusion of Marc’s. Usually that is how his stories work the best; when half of the story can’t really be trusted to be real. That is the era where he earns the Marvel’s Batman moniker. The later…
It was there in the late 70s and early 80s.
The big amorphous blob in the middle of F&TWS is what did the show in for me. Where are the characters? Why are they in this hospital? Why did they stop fighting b/c some characters went into a different room? It seemed jumbled and messy to what I assume was Covid messing up their shooting schedule.
Sure. In Star Wars it tends to mean you’re evil or outright royalty.
I liked it well enough til this episode. Now I’m hoping to not actively dislike it.
Hipsters on vespas is a very questionable design choice. They have no work and no money so they have to steal. Yet their tech is super clean, totally not scratched up and fully functional and not patched together. So bored rich kids we are supposed to like.
Well that’s a pretty big drop off. That’s why people were a little wary about a Robt Rodriguez lead show.
Jim White is so great
I think a lot of it has do with she isn’t working with as interesting people as she once was on those earlier albums. Tim Foljhan and the Dirty 3 are pretty hard to top.
