Yep. The move to overtake was aggressive, and the defensive move was... well, the door was not so much shut as slammed. Neither one gave an inch and as a result they ran out of inches and Verstappen had a really great day at the office.

Well, I expect that’s also something Niki Lauda would like to know. :)

I wouldn’t call that savable from the grass. The only way they weren’t going to come together was if Nico left a car width, making it not a very effective defensive move, or if Lewis lifted and went back outside giving up the corner.

This obviously needs to be owned by Kimi Raikkonen. Only he is both crazy enough to drive it and skilled enough to survive.

Yep. There are approximately a hojillion* Cessna Citations flying around with various versions of P&W’s JT15D in them, all with centrifugal compressors.

Sabine’s priorities are obviously in the right place: “But was it a good lap!?”

At the time I would have agreed with you about the incident in China, but looking at some of the different angles afterwards it was clear that Kvyat did have enough space to make the move (and Vettel agreed after he’d reviewed more footage).

That was hilariously awesome. :)

Heheheheheh. This is full of so very much win.

Indeed. I know I wasn’t the only fan disappointed when de Silvestro’s Sauber ride fell through.

hurr hurr

Mnemonic device that works for me: If you pretend it’s a wheel with the red edges leading the direction of rotation, it should always “climb” the flagpole.

Man, that sucks. I think the most annoyed I’ve been at missing a race was when I recorded Montreal in 2011 and it ran out of space on me partway through.

Ha ha.. collision avoidance sonar. :)

I can see the viewpoint of “well, the door was open” but even if there’s space to go down the inside going into the corner, other cars aren’t going to just disappear, and Kimi was already turning in. Once Kvyat committed, someone was going to wreck unless Kimi anticipated what Kvyat was doing and gave Seb more room

Hey, you think that would work? “Yea though I pass through the valley of the salt of the road, I shall fear no rusting.”

I have to agree with Zunes - I don’t think a manual would really suit it. The GT-R isn’t about trading off speed to get a pure analogue driving experience, it’s about giving you tools to attack corners.

I don’t think every race necessarily needs a ton of overtaking though. I’d rather see a few key well executed maneuvers than a ton of DRS passes, and watching someone defend well is enjoyable too.

Oh, this wasn’t Bernie’s idea. He wanted some form of reverse grid / success penalty time, and I understand this half-assed last minute quali change was an attempt to placate him with an alternative.

In the words of Inigo Montoya: “I do not think it means what you think it means.”
