When you have lap times / splits / etc all using the decimal seconds of difference between each person in a race, why would you change it so that the top 2 rows of the table use inches or feet instead of just a really precise number of seconds which is directly comparable to the other rows? Sure, the time doesn’t tell

When they’re talking about lap times, usually it’s to the .01 second unless it’s qualifying, where they use .001. Occasionally they’ll use “average speed” which is just a coefficient of time and distance. However, when determining the gap between cars, unless it’s some kind of cool visual on the screen that Fox or NBC

someone should have stuck their tongue out.

the time is a co-efficient of the velocity and distance. in this case, they’re going about 170-180 in the middle of the front stretch with larson ahead by an inch. also, what other races have margins in distances instead of times? literally all forms of racing I’ve ever heard of do margins in times. and that includes

Excellent point, starting position would be a more meaningful tie breaker if you really needed one. At least in that case it would be “you both completed X laps, but one driver had to drive a few extra car length before their lap 1 began”

Plus where they started the race.

By that logic you would need to retrace the entire race to see how many times each driver took the outside/inside line to calculate total distance traveled. Like what if one guy took the outside on both corners, but then another guy just shifted to the outside for the final stretch?

It’s about the line, not about who reached the highest track speed or drove the longest route.

It’s a terrible idea on many levels. Large castings are very difficult, especially for odd shaped parts of varying thickness as you have to have the temperatures, feeds, breathers, etc. dialed in. IF you get your processes down finally, you have a single part that likely cannot be reworked if it doesn’t pass QA (this

There’s probably a sweet spot where you save a ton by making large castings (which can also be engineered very nicely in terms of predictable performance in a crash, since it’s all about the material and shape, and not complicated by welds and fasteners and such) and saving a ton of money, but still having it perform

Ummmm, NO.

Oh I can’t wait for all the “we road rear facing as kids in xyz old car, back in the ancient past and survived” survivor bias stuff in the comments.

I’m not sure if news of Tesla overpromising and under delivering is more predictable news, or Ford issuing a recall.

And now that you’ve popped for big-ticket items, I’d be willing to bet you’ll be saving buku bucks over at least the next two years by addressing those issues.

Yep. 3k plus in the last two years - but she’s almost perfect at 18.

This.

The average car payment (half above the number, half below) for 2023 was $738.

In that case, up until a couple months ago, Hellcats (and the other LX’s, really) were unquestionably carrying that flag (and will only continue to do so as long as they’re available on BHPH lots).

Nope they took advantage of someone they knew was financially illiterate.  Negative equity on a trade and no money down...they know they have a sucker.
